TAXATION OF COMPANY VANS FROM APRIL 2005

Changes to the way employees will be taxed for the private use of their company vans will come into effect on 6 April 2005. Currently employees who use their company vans for private use incur a taxable benefit of £500 (£350 if the van is over four years old). Private use of the van includes home to work travel and, therefore, a benefit arises even if the employee’s only private use relates to journeys from home to work...
