UNW Charity Group
Our first event of 2012 will focus on the contentious topic of fraud. Fraud risks should be assessed and addressed like any other business threat and all organisations should implement a fraud policy to prevent and minimise the risk.
The National Fraud Authority publishes the Annual Fraud Indicator, which estimates the scale of fraud losses against victims of all types in the UK. Last year a survey by the NFA suggested that charities could be losing 2.4 per cent of their annual income to fraudsters, which would amount to £1.3 billion across the sector.
We are delighted to announce that our expert speaker will be Phil Loveday who recently joined UNW as Forensic Manager. Phil has over 30 years’ service with Northumbria Police, the last ten of which he was in charge of the fraud squad so he is extremely well placed to highlight any potential areas of fraudulent activity and how to deal with them.
