In the modern world, any business may become a victim of fraud. This can occur internally or externally with serious consequences and will have an adverse effect on morale within organisations of all sizes, causing misery for honest employees and directors alike, and will seriously damage the reputation of a business.
Fraud risks should be vigorously assessed and addressed like any other business threat and all businesses should implement a fraud policy to prevent and minimise the risk. Regular risk assessments should be conducted to identify potential areas of fraudulent activity either through misappropriation of funds or sensitive business information.
To further strengthen the service offering of UNW in this field, Phil Loveday has been appointed as Forensic Manager. Phil joins UNW after 30 years’ service with Northumbria Police, the last ten of which were as Detective Sergeant in charge of the fraud squad. During this time, Phil led many high profile, complex fraud investigations which featured in the national press including cases investigated jointly with the Serious Fraud Office. He has extensive experience in the investigation of fraud and all aspects of business crime. His expertise will complement the existing accounting services offered by UNW.
