Mark Hetherington: New VAT partner at unw
unw chartered accountants have recently enhanced the service offering to their clients with the arrival of Mark Hetherington as a specialist VAT partner.
With more than 20 years of VAT experience with HMRC and a Big 4 firm, Mark was drawn to unw because of its growing reputation in the north east business community and its strategy to be a leading service provider in the region. Mark says: “I was very happy in my former role but the opportunity to join unw was too good to turn down. I have watched unw’s development with particular interest over the last few years and have been very impressed by feedback from their clients. The team they have built combines experience and specialist skills together with a culture of building relationships and delivering high levels of service. It is a great proposition for clients which hopefully I can add to”.
Mark has a significant reputation with businesses in the North East and acknowledges that relationships are key: “unw’s emphasis on putting their clients first ties in extremely well with my own philosophy of creating, building and maintaining relationships with clients”.
Specialist VAT advice represents an opportunity to improve profitability and enhance cash flow and two of Mark’s clients have recently had good reason to acknowledge his expertise by securing substantial VAT refunds of £750k and £1.35m respectively. “Any business should always ensure they have access to specialist VAT advice” comments Mark.
Mark, who lives with Candy and their young family just south of Brampton, has been warmly welcomed at unw. Steve Lant, partner, says; “Mark is recognised as being a first rate VAT specialist on the national stage. Without exception, I have always been impressed in my dealings with him and we are delighted that he has chosen to join our growing team”.
